We woke up fairly early and whipped up breakfast. We had a repeat of the turkey sausage, eggs and cheese. We sipped on hot chocolate while we mixed it up. It gave us the energy we needed to break down camp and pack the car.
We set out on the long, boring drive through Wyoming back into Colorado . The stretch of Interstate we drove on was pretty for the first ten miles and then repetitive after that. We finally got to stop for lunch in Rawlins , WY . We went for the McDonald’s right off the highway. As we drove through the town, we couldn’t stop a creeping sense of unease. There was something off about the town. Apologies to Rawlins, but the town itself is a little strange. We had a bit of entertainment for our meal in listening to a group of older men talk about how they have to be careful about all the younger women who try to lure them in.
I managed to drive us to Cheyenne where I made Crystal take over. Driving exhausts me. She drove us to her place in Littleton where we ordered some Papa John’s pizza, stretched out, and tried to relieve our aching backs. Her mom joined us for dinner so we got to recount our camping stories to her.
